Welcome to Lorliang Cheewa Foundation

When we were naming the foundation, honestly, we had no clue what to call it. Friends shared all kinds of ideas. Some sounded like tech companies, and one even suggested Green Swans so it is easy to remember. We laughed, scratched our heads, and waited for something that truly felt like us.

Then we found Lorliang Cheewa. In Thai, it means nurturing life. We thought, yes, that is it. Imagine children learning with laughter, gardens growing, and trees cared for like family. Imagine kindness moving through a village like sunlight after rain.

That is what Lorliang Cheewa means to us, nurturing children, nurturing the land, and nurturing the quiet hope that keeps everything alive.

From Struggle to Wisdom

At Lorliang Cheewa Foundation, we believe sharing our struggles is only the first step. It helps us see things clearly, but what matters most is what we do next. We learn, reflect, and respond so that each challenge becomes a lesson, and every lesson becomes light for someone else’s path.

"Auntie, when I go to university, I won’t be hungry because I know how to cook and take care of myself"

These were the words of an eight-year-old who, just a year earlier, struggled to read, write, or find joy in learning. Today, he speaks with confidence and hope. This is a small reminder of how education and care can nurture independence and dreams.

The Lives We Nurture

Within every child lies a seed of courage and possibility. With the right care and guidance, that seed grows into strength that can sustain both life and community.

“I used to think I had to do everything alone. But when I began walking this path, learning to care for myself, for others, and for the earth, I started to see how supported I already was. The bamboo outside my hut gives me air, the clouds bring the rain, and people near and far keep showing up to help. It reminds me that none of us are ever really alone. We belong to one another, and that is how the world begins to heal.”

Founder story

The heart behind the Foundation grew from hardship and hope. Building people’s capacity is like cooking southern curry. It takes time, balance, and a bit of heat. You start with what you have, keep stirring with patience, and trust the process. That is how people grow, through care, courage, and heart.

" I remember looking at those cars that drives to the school to give me and the other kids school equipment, free food etc. I didn't know why someone would do that for me, I didn't even know who they were, but I want to give back."

Community

Have you faced hard times? Of course you have. We all have. The real question is, have you helped your neighbor or kept kindness alive in your day? These are the stories that connect us and remind us we are never alone.
